Jailbreaking iPhone or iPod Touch

This post is dedicated to my friend, Sulub as she requested me to write about this.

First of all, I need to claim that I won't guarantee there will be no harm doing jailbreak. You may lose all your data inside iPhone, or iTouch during jailbreak. So, I would like you to back up (Syncing)  your file with iTunes before doing it. The application in this article is only available for iPhone, iTouch 3.1.2. So, I would like you to change some settings before it to avoid software update such as (3.1.3).

The required setting to change is “Check for updates automatically” in iTunes>>Edit>> Preferences>>General. Uncheck this option before jailbreak.

There are three parts in total. They are
(1)  Downloading Jailbreak application
(2)Installing Cydia
(3)Installing Zawgyi Keyboard

Downloading Jailbreak application by George Hotz

First, download the required application from this site, jailbreak program. For your information, incase you have encountered the same problem with me, the program will show “asl.dll file missing” warning during its run time. To solve it, search the file name(asl.dll)  in your computer. You may be able to find it under Apple Application Support folder. Cut blackra1n application and paste it in that folder. Right click it, and create shortcut. For more details, you can see the video link above.

Connect your device to computer and open iTunes. After that, run blackra1n application.

It will start the jailbreak and your device may show this image.

Installing Cydia

Unplug your device from computer, and restart it. You will see this icon in your application pages.

Install Cydia. During installation, follow the options they recommended, and install all.

Installing Zawgyi Font

After installing Cydia, Go to Manage>> Resource>> Edit >> Add

Type this address ( http://cydia.macforus.com )

And you will see the packages, download

(1). Zawgyi Font

(2). Zawgyi Keyboard and it will install Zawgyi fonts automatically.

 Restart your device after installation.

                Settings > iKeyEX > Mix and Match > Make

2.                                   Layout> Choose Zawgyi, Name to Zawgyi

3.                                  Go back to  iKeyEx  and go to Keyboards

4.                                   Add (+) Zawgyi
   That’s it. Now you can see Myanmar Fonts in your iPhone and iTouch. To type Myanmar fonts, tap "Globe icon” in your device keyboard.
  
    Tips: In order to make typing Myanmar font easier, you can off auto- capitalization in your Keyboard.

   Go to General> Keyboard  . Off Auto-capitalization.

In case, you will find “Restore” option in your iTunes instead of Syncing your data. Please don’t do it or everything you did would be wasted like me  L . Don’t worry about it, all you have to do is RUN Blackra1n Application again, and later, iTunes will be back to normal mood. (In my case). If it’s still not ok, give up the idea at all. LOL .
